Description
A fantastic white lacquer bowl handcrafted from ash wood by Japanese craftsman Hiroyuki Sugawara. Hiroyuki creates wooden tools for daily life, working out of his studio named Greenlight in Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture.
The form is first cut and then turned on a lathe, before being finished by hand using a knife. Interestingly, the coating used is a white lacquer that both protects the wood and highlights all the little markings where the maker has been at work. Lacquer is also known to have antibacterial properties.
Note: All of these feature small marks and details that can’t be picked up by the camera, the colour may also differ slightly.
